Hundreds of years ago, the vampire Wayne Gretzky (played by Adam Johnson) fell in love with the beautiful human girl Mary (played by Julie Gonzalo), but accidentally bit her to death, losing his ability to drink blood forever. In modern society, Gretzky has become a history teacher at Hawthorne University, where he is humorous and eccentric, gaining the affection of his students. Only Principal Levin (played by Gary Cole) knows his secret and attempts to provide him with psychological counseling. One day, the beautiful girl Chris (played by Julie Gonzalo) appears before Gretzky, allowing this vampire to regain his long-lost abilities.
