In 1949, Prague, the Czech people, having been liberated for less than a year, were enjoying their hard-won freedom and happiness. Ten-year-old boy Aida and his friend Tonda live in a small town on the outskirts of Prague. Children at this age are lively and mischievous, and their class is notorious throughout the school for being a problematic one. The female teacher, Ms. Mašková (played by Daniela Kolárová), is driven to the brink of insanity by this group of bad boys, and the headache-ridden principal (played by Rudolf Hrusínský) has no choice but to hire Igor Nizlo (played by Jan Triska), a former member of the anti-fascist resistance, to be their class teacher. Clad in military attire and armed, Igor is very strict, but his legendary experiences greatly impress the naughty boys. Of course, Igor is not a perfect hero devoid of worldly desires; his romantic nature is prominently revealed when he encounters beautiful women... This film won the Honorary Award for Best Director at the 1994 Fantasporto International Film Festival and the Golden Kingfisher Award at the 1991 Pilsen Film Festival.
