Young couple Tim Gleeson (Tim Rock) and his pregnant wife Ellie (Kelen Coleman) drive to visit his grandfather in a remote area, but their car breaks down in the scorching, desolate California desert. Following the few telephone poles and wires, the couple arrives at a cornfield. They encounter a somewhat off-kilter couple; the male leader, Cole, is old and gloomy, seemingly harboring countless secrets, while the female leader, Helen (Barbara Nedeljakova), is beautiful and sexy, exuding an air of death beneath her charming appearance. As it's Sunday, rescue services are unable to arrive quickly, so the Gleesons must stay in Cole's home. At night, Ellie inadvertently discovers a locked-up teenager in a nearby warehouse and realizes that Cole might be committing some kind of crime. She decides to rescue the child, unaware that she has already become a target of death…
