In the near future, a terrifying zombie virus spreads globally, infecting tens of thousands of civilians. Many lose their lives, many turn into bloodthirsty living dead, and many others are left with an awkward identity. Farmer Wade (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is anxiously driving to a hospital located in a quarantine zone, where his daughter Maggie (Abigail Breslin) was recently sent. Maggie was attacked by zombies, leading to her infection. Although it will be some time before she completely turns into a zombie, her tragic fate seems to be sealed. Wade obtains permission from the hospital to bring his daughter home. The familiar environment and atmosphere, however, only add to Maggie's sadness and distress. She maintains a connection with her family, yet the distance between them is gradually widening. As time passes, the life within Maggie continues to fade, and the smell of death increases day by day, leading her and her beloved family toward a painful farewell...
