Unfortunate childhood experiences have led sixteen-year-old Hubert (played by Xavier Dolan) to live a life closely tied to his mother (played by Anne Dorval). However, as he grows up and enters his teenage rebellion, Hubert gradually discovers that communication with his mother becomes increasingly difficult, and the distance between them widens. Filled with pain and conflict, Hubert begins a tough attempt to rebuild the broken bond and trust with his mother, but just as his efforts start to yield results, his relationship with his boyfriend Anthony (played by François Arnaud) is exposed, causing his relationship with his mother to plummet once again. With Anthony's help, Hubert escapes from the boarding school. In the vastness of the world, can he find a small refuge to hide?
