Netflix acquired the film adaptation rights to the bestselling novel "There’s Someone Inside Your House" by Stephanie Perkins, produced by James Wan's Atomic Monster and Shawn Levy's 21 Laps. The screenplay is adapted by Henry Gayden (Shazam, Earth to Echo) and tells the story of a young girl, Makani Young, who moves from Hawaii to Nebraska to live with her grandmother. She makes a group of new friends and falls in love with a mysterious outsider, Ollie Larsson, but her past life in Hawaii is hard to forget. Soon, her high school friends begin to die mysteriously in a series of gruesome murders, and no one knows who will be next. As fear escalates, her feelings for Ollie deepen, forcing her to confront dark secrets within. The style merges 1980s horror films with John Hughes coming-of-age stories, with Michael Clear & Michael Clear (Annabelle Comes Home, Lights Out) also serving as producers.
