Based on the true events of a sensational Cold War-era Soviet KGB spy case, it tells the story of former Soviet KGB defector Vladimir collaborating with French intelligence personnel, becoming a cause of the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The story itself and the film's theme are quite controversial. The film is co-starring the famous director Emir Kusturica and the handsome French talent Guillaume Canet. Director Christian Carion previously directed "The Season of Dreams" and "Merry Christmas." On August 1, 1985, Colonel Vitaly Yurchenko from the KGB's First General Directorate in Rome, under the pretext of visiting the Vatican Museums, walked into the American Embassy in Rome. This highest-ranking KGB official who defected during the Cold War revealed several Soviet spies working for the National Security Agency, resulting in a fatal blow to the KGB's spy network in the West.
