Rebecca (Teresa Palmer) left her mother Sophie (Maria Bello) at a young age to live on her own. Later, Sophie married Paul (Billy Burke), and Rebecca gained a half-brother named Martin (Gabriel Bateman). However, Paul died in an accident, leaving Sophie in grief and despair. Meanwhile, Martin discovers that their mother often whispers to the darkness, seemingly hiding an "uninvited guest." Tormented, Martin turns to Rebecca for help, prompting her to remember a similar event from her childhood. Upon investigation, the mysterious figure lurking in the darkness is revealed to be Diana (Alicia Vela-Bailey), who was Sophie's best friend during her hospitalization. Diana died from a medical accident and has now returned to be with her best friend forever, posing a death threat to anyone who attempts to get close.
