A blend of film noir imagery and the suspense of a spy movie, based on true events, Fritz Lang's anti-Nazi film features a star-studded cast, with theater master Bertolt Brecht, musician Hanns Eisler, and other German cultural icons who fled to America. The cinematography is by Chinese master Huang Zongzhan. The high-ranking German occupying officer known as the "Prague Executioner" is assassinated in Prague, and the assassin receives help from resistance fighters to escape. The Germans arrest hundreds of innocent hostages, demanding the assassin's surrender, threatening to kill the hostages otherwise. How will the escaped assassin save the hostages?
