The film "A Dangerous Method" was originally titled "The Talking Cure" and is adapted from the stage play of the same name by British playwright Christopher Hampton ("Atonement"). Sabina Spielrein (played by Keira Knightley) comes from a Russian Jewish family. In 1904, she was sent to Zurich to treat her hysteria, becoming one of the patients of psychiatrist Carl Jung (played by Michael Fassbender). Jung discovers her masochistic tendencies and her sexual addiction, along with deep feelings of guilt. During the treatment, a secret and forbidden love develops between them. However, Jung values his reputation and wants to hide this relationship, claiming that Sabina is a delusional. This deceptive behavior also causes Jung to drift apart from his mentor, the founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud (played by Viggo Mortensen).
