A terrifying legend circulates about a mysterious videotape. According to the legend, anyone who watches this tape will die seven days later. Rational journalist Keller (Naomi Watts) dismisses it as a joke, but her niece Katie's (Amber Tamblyn) death shakes her belief. Keller's sister informs her that Katie watched the eerie tape with three classmates, all of whom met untimely deaths. Keller decides to investigate. She finds the tape Katie had watched and views its content, after which a mysterious phone call suggests her death is imminent. To save herself, Keller must uncover the truth behind the tape's curse within seven days. Time is running out; will Keller manage to escape?
