In a luxurious villa located in the suburbs, middle-aged plastic surgeon Robert Ledgard (Antonio Banderas) lives with his loyal housekeeper Marilia (Marisa Paredes). Over the past twelve years, he has lost his wife Gail and daughter Norma (Ana Mena), and these tragic events have completely overturned Robert's seemingly perfect life, pushing his career and research into an entirely unknown realm. In a mysterious room of the villa resides a beautiful and isolated woman named Vera (Elena Anaya), who is both Robert's patient and his experimental subject, with a complicated and twisted connection between them. Her face, carefully sculpted by Robert's hands, binds them tightly together... The film won the Best Foreign Language Film Award from the Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association in 2011.
