In the remote woods of North Carolina, a blind boy named Solomon lives alone, completely isolated from the world. Despite his physical disability, Solomon is able to navigate his surroundings by tying a long rope around his waist, which is secured to the small cabin where he resides. He survives solely on fishing, foraging, and catching small animals for food, accompanied only by his rope. Another source of motivation for him is an audio message containing three mysterious rules: The first rule: When you hunt or scavenge, do it for two things—one for the forest and one for yourself. The second rule: When your will almost fades away and you want to give up, find comfort in singing our song. The third rule: You can never let go of the rope.
