The story takes place before the previous installment, where Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman) assumes the identity of a girl who went missing in her childhood and arrives at the home of Tricia (Julia Stiles) and Allen (Rossif Sutherland). Faced with the return of their daughter, Allen is very emotional, and Esther's displayed artistic talent quickly establishes a close bond between the "father and daughter." Over time, however, Tricia begins to suspect that the girl before her is not the same person as their missing daughter. Initially, Esther plans to rob the wealthy family and leave, but her attachment to Allen causes her to stay, leading to the revelation of her true identity to Tricia.
