The film was originally titled "Rabbit Hole," completed as early as 2009, but has been delayed for various reasons. Will (Nicolas Cage) is a high school teacher living a stable and quiet life with his wife, Laura (January Jones). But everything changes after Laura is raped. Will knows nothing about the suspect, and a mysterious man named Simon (Guy Pearce) suddenly appears, claiming he can take care of the perpetrator for free, as long as Will helps him with a small favor later. The next day, the rapist is found dead, apparently having committed suicide in his home, and Will feels shocked. Shortly thereafter, Will receives instructions to carry out a stalking mission. After completing the task, he thinks he can live in peace, but unexpectedly Simon demands that he push another suspect, Valchak, off a bridge and make it look like a suicide. Will refuses to comply and is threatened by Simon with Laura's life. Reluctantly, Will agrees, but during the altercation, Valchak unfortunately falls to his death from the bridge. After Valchak's death, Will is arrested by the police and learns that the deceased is journalist Alan. He escapes from the police station and goes on the run, trying to uncover the truth...
