The young artist Mikako Hero (played by Shunichi Ninjō), who once won a painting award, goes mad one day and kills his model girlfriend Tomie (played by Miki Sakai). Mikako’s friends Hideshi and Aoyama Takumi (played by Sōsuke Tsumabuki) witness everything and help to move and bury the body. The three promise to keep this secret, not knowing that even more terrifying events are yet to come. While out at a bar, the supposedly dead Tomie mysteriously reappears in their private room, causing Mikako to succumb to overwhelming mental pressure and subsequently commit suicide in the bathroom. Hideshi tries to find Tomie’s body, but this drives him deeper into madness. Meanwhile, Tomie frequently circles around Aoyama. This mysterious and terrifying girl pushes the three boys to the brink of collapse... This film is adapted from the famous horror manga series of the same name by Japanese horror manga artist Junji Ito.
