Hong Kong youth scholar Tyrone and his sister Qingqing, accompany Qingqing's minority boyfriend Hecha to a Miao tribal village at the Yunnan border. The next day, the three take a car north for archaeological exploration, traversing deep mountains and dense forests, arriving at a small mountain village. Hecha and the Tyrone siblings visit the village chief to explain their purpose.
