Pike (played by William Holden) is a failed bandit who, along with his accomplices, not only botches a bank robbery but also finds himself being hunted by the bounty hunter Thornton (played by Robert Ryan). Fortunately, he receives help from the Indian youth Anchi (played by Jaime Sánchez), allowing him to escape. Following Anchi, Pike and his gang arrive at the Mexican border, where the brutal and volatile warlord Mapache (played by Emilio Fernández) and his followers are stationed. There is a history filled with hatred and blood between Mapache and Anchi. To pass through Mapache's territory, turning Anchi over becomes the only and reluctant choice. Pike plans to rescue Anchi, but unfortunately, it is too late; Anchi has already been killed. A fierce battle is about to unfold between the enraged Pike and Mapache.
