The story takes place in the Middle Ages. Azur is a blonde, blue-eyed European nobleman living in a luxurious palace with his father. Also living there is the nurse and her son—Asmar, with black hair and brown skin. The nurse takes care of both boys and tells them fairy tales about the fairy lady. However, as Azur grows up, his father sends him outside for more specialized education and dismisses the nurse, expelling her and Asmar from the palace. As an adult, Azur returns to the palace, decides to go on an adventure, and unexpectedly finds himself in a strange land. In this Middle Eastern territory, after numerous twists and turns, Azur reunites with the nurse and Asmar. Subsequently, the two princes representing different races—Azur and Asmar—decide to seek the fairy lady. Along the way, they face various challenges, and as competitors, can they rescue the fairy lady...
