Architect Michael Newman (played by Adam Sandler) leads a busy life every day. Despite his successful career and a happy family with his beautiful and supportive wife Donna (played by Kate Beckinsale) and their lovely children, he always finds himself lacking the time to truly enjoy family moments, often avoiding or forgetting commitments to his loved ones in his pursuit of promotion. Michael is searching for a universal remote control, and a mysterious boss named Morty (played by Christopher Walken) gives him one. When Michael returns home and tries to use it, he discovers the remote's magical function: he can control the time in his life, which excites him immensely as he can skip tedious tasks and indulge in the moments he desires. Until one day, the remote is no longer under his control, and his life becomes chaotic as time speeds forward, causing him to miss many important events: he quickly rises to a higher position in his company, his wife leaves him to marry another man, his father passes away, his son gets married, and only then does he regret the things he intentionally missed. As he reaches the brink of death, he strives to warn his son not to repeat his mistakes and to spend more time with family...
