In 1932, three years after the northeast fell, the land of Baishan and Heishui was filled with sorrow. One day, the fourteen or fifteen-year-old boy Chen Zhen rescued Princess Qing, the daughter of the late Prince Jing, who was shot by the Japanese invaders, from a pile of corpses. Princess Qing hid a map of the Japanese army's southern advance, obtained by her father from the Japanese military's secret room. The prince had instructed his daughter to deliver the map to their uncle in Fujian. With the map in her possession, Princess Qing set out on her journey but faced countless dangers and assassination attempts, saved repeatedly by Chen Zhen's secret protection. After arriving in Fujian, Japanese samurai openly hunted for Princess Qing, and during critical moments, Chen Zhen and his new friend, the poor child Xiaomushroom, cleverly outsmarted the samurai's encirclement. While searching for her uncle, Princess Qing met Tie Zhu, who was sent by the Anti-Japanese United Army to protect her. Once they understood each other's identities, they joined forces against the enemy. The Japanese samurai Hayate Ichirō tracked down Princess Qing under the guise of being a businessman. Chen Zhen, Xiaomushroom, and Tie Zhu collaborated to outwit and confront Ichirō, repeatedly turning peril into safety. To intercept the military map, the Japanese special high command mobilized multiple operatives, and Princess Qing faced grave danger. Chen Zhen, wise beyond his years, excellently escorted Princess Qing to Dongshan Island under the guidance of underground members, while Tie Zhu, deeply in love with her, sacrificed himself to cover their escape in a battle against Ichirō. After much hardship, Princess Qing finally met her uncle and handed over the map. In the ensuing battle, Chen Zhen grew up. The following spring, he arrived in Shanghai to deliver letters for the stationed troops, and from then on, he became stranded in Shanghai, where he met Huo Yuanjia, and the two embarked on the path of promoting national justice through Jingwu.
