Set against the backdrop of the largest Japanese expatriate community in São Paulo, Brazil, it tells the story of orphan Akemi (played by Masumi) who discovers that she is half an heir to a Yakuza crime syndicate. After forming an alliance with an amnesiac stranger (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers), Akemi believes it is an ancient sword that binds their fates together, and she wages war against the other half of the crime syndicate that wants her dead.
