In the poor and chaotic streets of London, mingling with prostitutes and a variety of characters, Mary (Heather Graham) and Annie (Joanna Page) form a deep friendship with several other prostitutes amidst the mess. However, the claw of evil is reaching out to them—a hidden killer who kidnaps and even murders these girls. Agent Aberline takes over the case; he possesses innate supernatural abilities that aid him in solving the crime. Aberline (Johnny Depp) arrives at the crime scene and gradually gathers clues, while he is also deeply attracted to Mary’s kind qualities, falling in love with her. But the killer's actions plunge the prostitutes into panic, and uncovering the true culprit becomes an urgent challenge for Aberline, who also finds himself caught in a larger vortex, fraught with danger.
