On a stormy night, Bonnie (voiced by Emily Hahn) is traveling on a long road with her mom. In the trunk, Bonnie's beloved toys, Cowboy Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen), Jesse (voiced by Joan Cusack), and others are gathered together watching a horror movie to pass the time. Suddenly, the car has a flat tire, and Bonnie and her mother have to stop at a motel called "SleepWell" while waiting for a rescue car the next day. As the night deepens, the toys go out to explore, but when they regroup, they find that Mr. Potato Head is missing. Woody and the others split up to search, but during the process, their friends start to disappear one by one.
