When Marcel was a child, he spent his summer vacation with his family in the small hills of Provence. In this picturesque place, Marcel had an unforgettable time with his friend Lili. However, upon returning to daily life, Marcel had to prepare for the dull review sessions for a scholarship exam to represent his school, and reminiscing about the carefree life spent in the mountains became his only joy. Surprisingly, with his mother’s continuous planning and coordination, the Marcel family began to extend their vacations in the Provence mountains from every holiday to every weekend, giving Marcel more adventures and stories in the rural fields. However, the four-hour round trip each week was a bit overwhelming for the family, and at that time they encountered a student working as a canal supervisor, who used his position to give Marcel’s family a key that allowed them to walk along the canal, shortening their journey to one hour. Although this provided convenience for the family, it caused the self-respecting father to live a life filled with guilt and anxiety… This film is adapted from the autobiographical novel of the same name by Marcel Pagnol, and is a sister film to "My Father's Glory."
