The story takes place in the fairy world, where the elf princess Marilyn (voiced by Evan Rachel Wood) is about to marry her beloved Roland (voiced by Sam Palladio). However, by chance, Marilyn discovers that Roland doesn't truly love her and that he is only marrying her to gain the throne. Heartbroken, Marilyn falls into sadness and despair. Roland, seeing his scheme about to fall apart, seeks out the naive little fairy Sunshine (voiced by Elijah Kelley) and deceives him with sweet talk into going to the Dark Forest, where the witch Honey (voiced by Kristin Chenoweth) lives, who can make love potions. After obtaining the love potion, Sunshine decides to sprinkle it on Marilyn's sister Dawn (voiced by Meredith Anne Bull), but suddenly the Swamp King (voiced by Alan Cumming) appears, and under the influence of the potion, Dawn falls in love with him. The Swamp King and Marilyn unexpectedly connect and find they are well-matched, while Roland arrives with troops to attack the castle, creating a very urgent situation.
