In 1999, in Broome, Australia, young Australian man Ben (played by Nathan Phillips) drives to Wolf Creek National Park with two British girls, Kristy (played by Kestie Morassi) and Liz (played by Cassandra Magrath). After two days of traveling through the desolate Australian outback, they finally reach their destination. The joy of seeing the giant meteorite crater is short-lived when they discover their car has broken down as they attempt to return. Late at night, a good Samaritan named Mick (played by John Jarratt) appears and offers to take them back to his camp and help them fix their car for free. Mick takes the three young people to an abandoned mine site, where they quickly fall asleep amidst Mick's hearty laughter. When Liz wakes up, she finds herself locked in a warehouse, her hands and feet bound. As she breaks free in an attempt to escape, she hears Kristy's cries for help from the next room; Kristy is being abused by the "good Samaritan" Mick. With Ben missing, Liz must find a way to rescue Kristy. In the remote mine site of central Australia, the young trio's wonderful journey turns into a horrific nightmare... This film is adapted from the "Backpacker Murders" that occurred along the Hume Highway in Australia at the end of the last century.
