Freddy, who kills children in their dreams, is back. Teenager Kristen has recently been trapped in a continuous nightmare, where she nearly dies at Freddy's hands in a dream house of her own creation—though to outsiders, Kristen appears to be more of a sleepwalker or suicidal. As a result, Kristen is sent to a hospital for treatment, where several other teens suffering from nightmares are also admitted. Nancy (played by Heather Langenkamp), who once escaped from Freddy, is now a doctor. She comes to the hospital to help Kristen and the other teens, discovering that Kristen has the ability to bring others into her dreams. With the assistance of Dr. Coleman, Nancy and the others enter Kristen's dream, where they find they can possess unusual abilities. Nancy then prepares to lead them to battle Freddy in the dream, but the rigid hospital staff still believes the kids are merely sleepwalking and suffering from delusions...
