In a remote place in Scotland, away from the hustle and bustle, a priest named Michael Carroll unexpectedly dies in a monastery, and the cause of his death remains undetermined. Following this, the police notify Carroll's sister Grace, who has been his companion since childhood (played by Jena Malone). Due to her childhood experiences, Grace has always lived alone and harbors some resistance towards religion, but this does not hinder the deep bond between the siblings.
