To save his grandmother's garden, ten-year-old Arthur (played by Freddie Highmore) must find the treasure left by his missing grandfather. Following the clues left by his grandfather, Arthur finally discovers the Moonlight Gate, which opens only once a year, and enters the mini kingdom of the Minimoys, where he meets the beautiful Princess Selenia and the Minimoys from his grandfather's notes. From them, he learns that four years ago, his grandfather ventured into the Forbidden City to search for treasure, which is ruled by the "evil M." During a battle against invading enemies, Arthur pulls the Sword of Power from a stone, becoming a hero of the mini kingdom. With the sword drawn, the heroes of the mini kingdom must travel to Necropolis—the Forbidden City—to defeat "the evil M." Arthur, Princess Selenia, and Prince Betamach overcome numerous challenges to finally reach M's lair, where the legendary demon Matalazade resides... This film marks Luc Besson's tenth movie, rumored to be his "final masterpiece," taking seven years of preparation and production, with an investment of 65 million euros, making it the most expensive production in French cinema history.
