In the tranquil night sky, residing within the bright full moon, is the Moon Man (voiced by Katharina Thalbach), who is entirely white and seems visible only to children. He curls up in his small space, feeling lonely and isolated. One night, a fiercely burning asteroid is heading towards Earth, and the Moon Man seizes the opportunity to catch the fiery tail and falls to Earth. Meanwhile, the President of Earth (voiced by Ulrich Tukur) is hosting a celebration at an observatory to conquer every corner of Earth, and the arrival of the asteroid makes him anxious, igniting his ambition to conquer the moon. To achieve this, he enlists the help of the long-silent genius Dr. Benson von Dark (voiced by Thomas Kästner) to invent a rocket for space travel. The Moon Man disappears, leaving the children unable to sleep in disappointment. What unexpected journey awaits him on Earth? This film is adapted from the bestselling picture book of the same name by Tomi Ungerer.
