Reny (played by Johnny Depp) discovers that his wife has cheated on him; he finds her in bed with another man and files for divorce. However, the shadow of his marriage does not allow Reny to regain his former self. His writing begins to lose its luster, and he cannot find the creative passion he once had. Thus, he retreats to a lakeside cabin to heal and create. But this cabin brings him new troubles. First, the visit of a stranger infuriates him. The man claims that Reny has plagiarized his work, and no amount of explanation convinces him otherwise. Reny starts rummaging through his belongings to find the original manuscript, only to discover that it has mysteriously gone missing. A series of terrifying events unfold, and the entire cabin seems to be under some kind of dangerous situation, leaving Reny extremely frightened, yet unable to uncover the reason. Is his ex-wife and her lover behind it? What are their true intentions? But the truth turns out to be something Reny can hardly believe.
