The story takes place in the early Republic of China, where Su Chengzhi (played by Wang Yanyang) has just married his lover Ren Shuyan (played by Ma Danni), and the newlyweds are still immersed in the happiness of their marriage. One day, the couple, along with five other classmates, return to their old home for a visit. In a moment of excitement, they decide to play the spirit-summoning game of Pen Spirit. Little did they know, what started as a curiosity-driven prank would gradually evolve into an inescapable nightmare.
A sudden storm interrupts their return journey, and during the time they are trapped, bizarre events unfold one after another, leading to the untimely deaths of their classmates. The survivors realize that the killer must be among them, but at this point, there is nowhere to escape. Su Chengzhi decides to investigate the truth behind the case, only to unveil a secret that has been buried in this mansion for twenty years.
