"The Heart's Destruction" is a suspense crime film directed by Polish New Wave female director Agnieszka Holland, adapted from the novel by Poland's literary treasure Olga Tokarczuk. It tells the story of a 60-year-old English teacher who looks after a holiday home in the Polish forest, but increasingly more hunters mysteriously die in the woods, while the police seem helpless. The film uses animal protection as a facade to reflect the injustices faced by weaker groups in society. Men (those in power) not only abuse animals to satisfy their ugly desires but also women, children, and other vulnerable groups.
