Tyler Rake just wants to play cards, while Chik is a fragile and irritable young man seeking help to execute his revenge plan against the military colonel (played by Dafoe). Tyler sees a glimmer of hope for revenge in Chik. With the support of the mysterious gambling financier LaLinda (played by Haddish), Tyler leads Chik through the casinos until all three set their sights on winning the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. However, it turns out that keeping Chik focused is unfeasible, and Tyler is also pulled back into his past dark shadows.
