In "Code 193", the concept of "consciousness upload", where one person's consciousness is uploaded to another through experimental technology, is key to finding answers. As the characters can enter the brain's consciousness to drive the story forward, director Hsiao Li-hsiu studied a large amount of psychology and multiple personality information while revising the script to clarify the logic and narrative method of "consciousness upload" in the film. The consciousness of different individuals is uploaded into Yang Youning's body, so he must portray the appearance of different people. Hsiao Li-hsiu explains, "This is more complex than a character playing multiple personalities, as it is necessary to understand the characteristics of the consciousness he receives, allowing the audience to know he has become another character." The female lead, Chang Rongrong, plays a strong-willed neuroscience doctor who has a 7-year-old child.
