In the not-so-distant year of 2024, human society is fraught with crises. Earth's energy resources are gradually depleting, and the world economy begins to collapse. The Trexx group has connected the subway into a vast network, called Metro. In this network-embodied world, people hide underground, toiling like worker ants, devoid of desires. Roger (voiced by Vincent Gallo) is a telephone operator who seems overly reclusive compared to others. While everyone has become accustomed to life in the subway, only Roger rides his bicycle to work each day, navigating the polluted and dilapidated city streets, feeling lonely and helpless. Until one morning, when Roger's bicycle is destroyed, forcing him to take the subway to work. A wondrous experience unfolds from there... This film won the Best Music Award at the 2009 Stockholm Film Festival and the Future Digital Cinema Award at the 2009 Venice Film Festival.
