Due to a family financial crisis, single mother Lucy (Dianne Wiest) is forced to move with her two sons — Mike (Jason Patric) and Sam (Corey Haim) — to the remote seaside town of Santa Carla, California. Santa Carla is plagued by a teenage motorcycle gang and local legends of vampires. The two brothers quickly meet Edgar (Corey Feldman) and Allan (Jamison Newlander), who call themselves vampire hunters, though Mike and Sam scoff at such tales. Soon, Mike becomes enamored with Star (Jami Gertz), the girlfriend of the gang leader David (Keifer Sutherland).
