Vincent (played by Fabrice Eboué) and Sophie (played by Marina Foïs) are a married couple who have been together for many years, running a small butcher shop. The business is not doing particularly well, and on top of that, they have to endure occasional “attacks” from vegetarians who protest against their meat shop. As their relationship has been worn down by time, Sophie ultimately decides to divorce Vincent. One night, while driving on a deserted road, they accidentally hit and kill a cyclist. Vincent recognizes the cyclist as one of the vegetarians who previously attacked their butcher shop, so he takes the body back to the shop to butcher it. Unexpectedly, the next day, Sophie mistakenly turns the butchered thigh meat into delicious ham slices and sells them to customers. To Vincent’s surprise, the exceptionally tasty ham slices receive rave reviews, and soon there are long lines forming outside their shop.
