Mrs. Montague and Mr. Capulet are two old neighbors who can't stand each other, one painting their house entirely blue and the other red. In their gardens reside two families of dwarf fairies, who, like their owners, are deadly rivals separated by a fence; during the day they are ceramic ornaments, but when no one is around, they engage in a fierce battle. One night, Juliet (voiced by Emily Blunt), the daughter of the red family leader, secretly goes in search of a magical bizarre orchid, only to accidentally encounter Gnomeo (voiced by James McAvoy), the warrior of the blue family, and a competition for the flower unexpectedly turns into an electric spark of romance. From then on, they embark on a secret love affair, and their mutual affection leads them to question their families’ feud. However, the war between the red and blue families escalates, and faced with the high fence and never-ending smoke of conflict, can the love of these two gnomes escape the tragic fate that Shakespeare had already written? The film is inspired by Shakespeare's famous play "Romeo and Juliet."
