Simon Callum (Jason Bateman) moves to California with his wife Robin (Rebecca Hall), who works in graphic design, due to a new job opportunity. Simon's career is moderately successful, and the couple enjoys a harmonious, carefree life. While shopping, Simon unexpectedly meets his high school classmate Gordo (Joel Edgerton), and after a brief chat, they wave goodbye. A few days later, Gordo shows up uninvited with a small gift for the couple, and the three of them have dinner together that evening. However, Simon feels uncomfortable, as he clearly does not like this peculiar classmate, while Robin seems to appreciate Gordo's enthusiasm. After a minor setback, Simon finally decides to cut ties with Gordo, who is from a completely different world. Gordo appears disappointed, while a strange expression emerges on his face…
