"The Mirror Decoder" is based on the true story of the legendary 18th-century French detective Vito. The filming cost exceeded 150 million francs and it won five awards at the Spanish Film Festival. French detective Vito (played by Gérard Depardieu) suddenly goes missing, and it is rumored that he was killed by a masked man with a mirror-like mask, which is said to possess the eerie power to steal human souls, involving multiple mysterious murders in Paris and causing widespread panic. Young journalist Paul Allen (played by Guillaume Canet) begins an investigation, teaming up with Vito's partner Nima and a mysterious woman to interview several witnesses. However, during this time, a series of "electric shock murders" occur, with many nobles being bizarrely struck dead by lightning, and witnesses previously interviewed are subsequently found with their throats slit. Paul Allen discovers that this is related to the sudden disappearance of numerous virgins in the city, escalating the plot towards its climax. Every clue has the potential to change the storyline, but the crucial revelation lies within Vito himself...
