Evan (Eddie Murphy) is the company's CFO, who is formidable in the workplace but faces repeated setbacks at home. Due to years of neglecting his family, his long-suffering wife, Lori (Vanessa Williams), chooses to leave. Evan promises repeatedly that he will make time for the family every day, which allows him to keep custody of his daughter, Olivia (Yara Shahidi).
