Cole (Judah Lewis) is a very timid boy who faces bullying at school and lacks attention from his parents at home. The only person he trusts and feels close to is his babysitter, Bee (Samara Weaving), who often takes care of him, and they share a deep and mutual friendship. Cole is very curious about what Bee does after he falls asleep, so one night he secretly sneaks out of bed to spy on her. To his shock, he discovers Bee has brought a group of friends to the living room and they start playing a game of truth or dare. As time goes on, this lighthearted and steamy game starts to take a dark turn, and the sudden outbreak of a bloody massacre makes Cole realize that this is not just a game, and Bee is far from what she seems.
