The old regime has collapsed, and the vast Soviet Union has become a thing of the past. Amid the tide of change, history graduate Misha Galkin (played by Ed Stoppard) discovers his talent for advertising while working and ventures into this new field, eventually being recruited by American Bob Gibbons (played by Jeffrey Tambor) to a US-Russian advertising agency. After nearly 20 years of hard work, he gradually becomes a prominent figure in the industry. Although he can never officially become a partner in the company, he falls deeply in love with Bob's beautiful niece Abby (played by Leelee Sobieski). After a failed advertising campaign, Misha's career and romance both hit rock bottom. Once thriving, he never expected to become a pawn in someone else's marketing strategy, and he realizes the significant harm his once-proud marketing talent can bring to himself and others. Six years later, in 2017, the world has undergone tremendous changes, and Misha, hiding in the wilderness, is destined to live an extraordinary life…
