The story takes place in the American West in 1897, where a young man named Coffey (played by Karl Geary) is experiencing the best time of his life—he is about to marry the girl he loves. Unfortunately, tragic news arrives: Coffey's fiancée and her entire family are killed in an attack by an unidentified object, leaving a chaotic and horrifying scene. Faced with this brutal reality, Coffey, filled with grief and anger, vows to not rest until he finds the murderer. Coffey joins the local search party and becomes a subordinate to Henry (played by Doug Hutchison). Initially, Coffey believes the murderer is a savage Indian native, but after some investigation, he discovers this is not the case. As the investigation deepens, more and more clues emerge, all pointing to one fact: beneath the land they inhabit, there is a very, very terrifying alien creature.
