A groom from the UK prepares to hold a traditional wedding in his fiancée's hometown of Poland. On the eve of the wedding, he receives a villa as a grand gift and, excitedly digging in the yard to renovate their future home, unexpectedly uncovers a skeleton. On the wedding day, the lively banquet lasts from day to night. Amidst the clinking of glasses, the groom begins to lose control, even speaking fluent Yiddish. His father-in-law worries that he has epilepsy, his brother-in-law thinks he's pretending to be crazy due to drunkenness, and there's a jealous relative constantly provoking him. While the bride anxiously watches, an elderly man discovers that the spirit attached to the groom is actually a woman he knows, further complicating the already bizarre situation... Polish director Marcin Wrona tells a Jewish legend from a modern perspective. While it's certainly terrifying that the groom is possessed, the collective madness of everyone trying to maintain a facade of calm is even more like the appearance of a malevolent spirit. Israeli actor Itay Tiran transforms the groom from a charming young man into a tortured soul with duality, delivering a deeply nuanced performance. The tragic news of the director's death before the film's premiere in Poland adds an even more peculiar layer to this story of a curse.
