The story continues from the previous film, where the train leaving Busan brings the zombie virus. Four years have passed in the blink of an eye, the virus has spread nationwide, and the Korean Peninsula has been abandoned by the world. Retired soldier Jung-seok (played by Kang Dong-won) boards a refugee ship with his family at the last moment, only to discover that infected individuals have also boarded, and tragedy strikes once again. Ultimately, the refugee ship is rerouted to Hong Kong, where Jung-seok, having narrowly escaped, struggles to survive at the bottom of society as a refugee. By chance, he receives an "underground mission": a large sum of cash has been lost by Americans in Korea, and they urgently need someone to infiltrate this death zone to retrieve the money, with the promise of substantial rewards for those who succeed. For the sake of the money, Jung-seok and a group of companions set foot on this familiar yet strange land. The night falls in Korea, and the surroundings are silent, while the long-sleeping zombies seem to be waiting for the arrival of "food"...
