In a torrential downpour, a frail woman named Susie (Jessica Harper) arrives alone in Germany to study dance at a ballet school. Upon her arrival, Susie witnesses a woman running out of the school's gates, chanting to herself, before disappearing into the rain. Little does Susie know, the next day she hears news of the woman's death. Soon, Susie realizes that her classmates are not as friendly as she had imagined, and her roommate is a self-serving woman. The only friend she makes turns out to be close to the girl who died earlier. Through her, Susie hears rumors of witches and curses plaguing the school, and the bizarre phenomena that follow begin to make Susie slowly realize that hidden secrets lie within this sinister institution.
