In the 1960s and 70s, the two major developed countries, the United States and the Soviet Union, engaged in a military competition that shocked the world. To win the air supremacy in future space wars, both countries successively sent astronauts into outer space. Before 1972, the United States launched 17 spacecraft to the Moon, but Apollo 18 was abruptly called off on the eve of its flight. According to newly declassified footage, astronauts Benjamin Anderson (Warren Christie), Nathan Walker (Lloyd Owen), and John Gray (Ryan Robbins) boarded Apollo 18 under the pretense of collecting samples and flew to the Moon in 1974 for a week-long investigation.
